MyFitnessPal app

The first part of my healthy family journey is to get myself healthy. I recently have put on about 25 pounds on top of the already unwanted 25 pounds. I find tracking my eating habits on paper helps me pinpoint my opportunities for improvement. A friend of my suggested that I try the MyFitnessPal app created by Under Armor.

This app is absolutely amazing! Upon creating your account you specify your goals: maintain weight, lose pounds, gain pounds. This creates a daily plan for you.

You are able to add all your meals here, monitor your water intake, even your exercise. You can set the app up to count your steps from your phone or even a smart watch.
The app calculates your macros for the day, week, month. Macros are your carbohydrate, fat, and protein intake. The app creates daily goals for each of these.
The app also breaks down your vitamin, sodium, potassium, cholesterol, etc. intakes.
You can also see your calorie intake broken down by meal times.

I have found this all quite helpful in watching what I intake and finding healthier alternatives. The start to a healthy family begins with a healthy mama after all!
